10th Screening of Mutaher’s
Documentary, at UNICEF,
Mutaher’s tenth documentary screening was held at UNICEF-Islamabad on September 11, on her second anniversary. The event was attended by UN staff and experts from multiple sections including Education, Health, Nutrition and Protection.
The session started with the virtual exhibition showcasing her artwork, followed by the screening of the documentary. The audience was moved when they saw the artist behind such profound pieces of artwork. Inspiration hung heavily in the air as they learned the extraordinary tale of bravery and courage with which she overcame her challenges. And lived her Life in pure celebration.Discussion followed on social inclusion and differently able children, role of systems in bringing out the best in children and the role of parents. Audience also appreciated the fact that despite all the challenges Mutaher had extraordinary resilience and courage.Her zest for life was appreciated by many in the room.
The forum was also introduced about Mutaher Pakeeza Circle,by Anusha Mehreen and Kiran Fatima.
Pakeeza ,a 19 year old young lady ,who loved painting and enjoying life ,passed away in 1996.
The forum was oriented about the creation of safe spaces for debate and discussion amongst the youth. The significance of such spaces in cultures where norms and stereotypes define the opportunities for growth was also discussed. The staff was invited to join the circles and register their children for the upcoming MP circles.
